# Use Your Own DeepL Account for AI Translation in Kontainer DAM and PIM

Translation is one of the most repetitive tasks in any organization selling or communicating across markets.

Product descriptions, specifications, alt texts and asset metadata all need to exist in every language your customers, colleagues and partners use. Too often, that means exporting text to spreadsheets, pasting it into a translation tool one field at a time and copying it back again.

With our new [DeepL integration](https://kontainer.com/integrations/deepl), that loop disappears.

You can now connect **your own DeepL account** to Kontainer and use DeepL’s AI translation directly on the text fields in your PIM and DAM.

And because it is your DeepL, the translation knowledge you have already built up there comes along with it.

## What’s new: DeepL translation inside Kontainer

The DeepL integration brings translation into the place where your content already lives.

**In the PIM**, you can translate product names, descriptions, specifications and other text fields across your products and variants.

**In the DAM**, you can translate the texts attached to your assets, such as descriptions, alt texts and other metadata fields on images, videos and documents.

Click **Translate** on a field, and DeepL translates the source text into the target language. The translation is saved as a normal field value in Kontainer, so it can be reviewed, adjusted and used in all your channels right away.

## Why your own DeepL account makes a difference

Many companies already use DeepL. And over time, their DeepL workspace has become much more than a translation engine.

Teams have added glossaries, preferred terms and rules that reflect how the business actually talks:

- Product and brand names that must never be translated

- The preferred translation of specific materials, components or product categories

- Industry terminology that a generic translation would get wrong

- Words and phrases to avoid in certain markets

- Tone and style preferences, such as formal or informal address

That is valuable knowledge, often built up by translators, marketers and local market teams over many years.

When you connect your own DeepL account to Kontainer, you do not have to start over. The glossaries and settings you rely on in DeepL can be used when translating your product information and asset texts in Kontainer, so the do’s and don’ts you have already defined are respected in your PIM and DAM too.

## Translations that sound like your business

Generic machine translation is good at language. It is not necessarily good at *your* language.

A furniture brand may want “oak veneer” translated in one specific way across every market. A manufacturer may have technical terms that differ from everyday usage. A fashion company may keep collection names in English everywhere. A B2B company may need formal address in German, but informal in Danish.

When that knowledge already sits in your DeepL account, translations in Kontainer follow the same rules as the rest of your translated content.

The result is less correction work after translation, and product information that reads consistently whether a customer meets it on your webshop, in a marketplace, in a product feed or in a distributor portal.

## One source of truth in every language

Kontainer is built to be the central source for approved assets and structured product information.

The DeepL integration extends that principle to translations. Every language is translated from the same approved source text in Kontainer, and the translated texts are stored alongside it.

From there, they flow to your webshop, product feeds, portals and [other integrations](https://kontainer.com/integrations) just like the rest of your content.

No spreadsheets travelling back and forth. No outdated translations sitting in a separate file. No guessing which version is current.

## You stay in control

AI translation is fast, but the final word should still be yours.

Every translation in Kontainer can be reviewed and edited manually before it is published to your channels. If a phrase needs adjusting for a particular market, you simply change it in the field.

It is also worth knowing what DeepL does *not* do in Kontainer. DeepL is used for translation only. It translates the text that is already in your fields but does not write new product copy or generate descriptions from images. For text generation, Kontainer supports a range of other AI providers.

## Who will benefit?

The DeepL integration is useful for any team working with content in more than one language, for example:

- **E-commerce teams** translating product names, descriptions and specifications for webshops and marketplaces

- **Companies entering new markets** that need their existing product catalog in new languages

- **Product and marketing teams** launching new collections in several markets at the same time

- **Sales teams and distributors** who need product information in their own language

- **Brand and marketing teams** translating alt texts and metadata, so assets are accessible and searchable in every market

**Translate faster, stay consistent, and reach every market in its own language.**
