Description
Seamless media management in Contentstack using Kontainer
With the Kontainer plugin for Contentstack, editors can access images, video and files stored in Kontainer DAM directly within the Contentstack interface — without physically uploading them into the CMS. Instead, each media item is inserted as a CDN link, which ensures the original files remain managed in Kontainer.
This approach delivers multiple benefits: your CMS stays lightweight and lean, all media content is always versioned and controlled at a single source, and performance improves thanks to fast delivery from Kontainer’s CDN. When a file is updated in Kontainer, it reflects immediately everywhere it’s used in Contentstack.
Editors get a smooth workflow: within Contentstack’s editor, they open Kontainer’s filepicker, browse or search for the desired media (images, video, files), and insert them into content. The filepicker supports filtering via metadata so the right assets surface quickly.
Benefits
Why use Kontainer’s Contentstack plugin?
✔ No duplicates or local copies — images, video and files stay in Kontainer and are referenced via CDN links
✔ Instant synchronization — updates in Kontainer automatically propagate to all Contentstack references
✔ Improved performance — media delivered via Kontainer’s global CDN for faster load times
✔ Reduced CMS overhead — Contentstack stores only references, not the actual media
✔ Single source of truth — one canonical repository ensures consistency and correctness
✔ Advanced metadata search — leverage tags, categories, license fields and more to find media
✔ Central access control — permissions managed in Kontainer, automatically reflected in plugin
✔ Security & compliance — secure API integration, encryption, audit trails
✔ Scalability — support for expanding metadata schema, filters, and user roles

Select multiple media items at once and insert them into content in a single step.
Plugin
Why a CMS-DAM integration?
While Contentstack excels at managing structured content, it isn’t built to handle large volumes of media, advanced metadata, version control, or permissions granularly. When media is uploaded directly into CMS, you risk duplication, outdated versions, licensing issues, and lack of oversight.
By combining Contentstack with Kontainer DAM, you get the best of both worlds:
- Contentstack handles content modeling, structure, and delivery
- Kontainer manages your media (images, video, files) with full governance, delivered via CDN references
This integration ensures editors work in a unified interface, while media stays controlled, updated, and performing optimally.
